What trims does the new Ford Ranger come in?
The current Ranger lineup on ford.com is XL, XLT, Lariat and the Ranger Raptor. XL is the simple work truck, XLT adds comfort and package options, Lariat moves into a more upscale cabin, and the Raptor is the high speed off road model. Each trim except the Raptor can be built as a 4x2 or 4x4, and the inventory above shows what we have available.
Which engines are available in the Ford Ranger?
The 2.3L EcoBoost four cylinder is standard on XL, XLT and Lariat. XLT and Lariat can be ordered with the 2.7L EcoBoost V6, which many shoppers pick for towing and highway passing. The Ranger Raptor uses its own 3.0L twin turbo EcoBoost V6. Every Ranger uses a 10 speed automatic, so there is no manual option to sort through.
Is there a Ford Ranger hybrid or plug in hybrid in the US?
Not right now. Ford builds a Ranger plug in hybrid for some overseas markets, but Ford has said it will not bring that version to the US. If you want a hybrid pickup, the Maverick offers a hybrid powertrain and the F-150 offers a full hybrid. We can show you both if electrified power matters more than Ranger size.
How much can the Ford Ranger tow?
The Ranger tow rating depends on the engine, cab and bed, drivetrain and whether the truck has the Trailer Tow Package, which Ford lists as required for towing on most trims. Check the window sticker or the Ford towing guide for the rating on a specific truck. Bring your camper or boat trailer specs and we will match you to the right configuration.
Is the Ranger Raptor worth it over a Ranger with FX4?
The FX4 Off Road Package gives an XLT or Lariat useful off road gear for gravel roads, campgrounds and muddy trailheads. The Ranger Raptor is a different animal with its own V6, long travel suspension and desert tuned hardware built for hard, fast off roading. If your trips are mostly Mark Twain National Forest gravel and lake access roads, FX4 usually covers it.
Is the Ford Ranger Tremor available at Dave Sinclair Ford?
Ford has talked about bringing a Tremor version of the current Ranger to North America, but it is not listed on the ford.com Ranger lineup yet. Once Ford opens orders, we will be able to take custom orders and add Tremor trucks to our inventory. Ask a salesperson to keep you posted, or look at the FX4 package on XLT and Lariat in the meantime.
Does the Ford Ranger have Pro Trailer Backup Assist?
Yes, Pro Trailer Backup Assist is available on the Ranger. You steer the trailer with a knob instead of fighting the steering wheel, which helps a lot at a crowded boat ramp. Trailer Light Check and an available trailer brake controller are also part of the Ranger towing tech. Availability depends on trim and packages, so confirm the equipment on the specific truck.
What technology comes in the new Ford Ranger?
The Ranger uses SYNC 4A with a large center touchscreen and enhanced voice recognition, and a digital instrument cluster is available on XLT and Lariat. Ford Co-Pilot360 driver assist features like BLIS with Cross Traffic Alert come standard. Package choices change what is included, so ask us to walk through the tech on the truck you are considering.
Ford Ranger vs Ford F-150, which is right for me?
The Ranger is a midsize truck that fits tighter garages and city parking and still handles moderate towing. The F-150 is the full size choice with more cab space, more powertrain options including a hybrid, and higher towing capability. If you regularly pull a large camper or carry a full crew, the F-150 is usually the better fit. Otherwise, the Ranger often does the job.
Is a Ford Ranger 4x4 necessary in St. Louis?
For a lot of commuters, a 4x2 Ranger with good tires works fine. A 4x4 makes sense if you launch boats on wet ramps, drive gravel roads, hunt in the Ozarks or deal with steep driveways during snow and ice. It also tends to help resale. Trading in can also lower the amount you finance. If you still owe on your truck, we handle the payoff with your lender as part of the deal.
What does Warranty Forever cover on a Ford Ranger?
Yes, on qualifying new Rangers we sell. Midsize trucks often end up doing double duty as a commuter and a tow rig for a small boat or utility trailer, and the coverage protects the engine, transmission and 4x4 driveline for as long as you own the truck. Keep up with the maintenance intervals in the agreement, use a licensed shop, and keep your service records handy.
