Ford Mustang Mach-E Questions From St. Louis SUV Shoppers
What is the difference between the Mach-E Select, Premium, GT and Rally?
Select is the entry trim with rear wheel drive or eAWD and a choice of battery. Premium adds comfort features like heated and ventilated front seats and a B&O sound system. GT focuses on performance with eAWD, the extended range battery and Brembo front brakes. Rally builds on that with rally tuned suspension and all weather tires. Driving a Select and a GT back to back shows the gap clearly.
Should I get the standard or extended range battery on a Mach-E?
On Select and Premium you can choose either. The standard range battery works for many St. Louis drivers whose daily round trip is well within its range and who charge at home overnight. The extended range battery makes more sense if you take regular highway trips to Columbia, Kansas City or the Lake of the Ozarks, or if you want more margin in cold weather. GT and Rally come with the extended range battery.
Is RWD or eAWD better for a Mach-E in St. Louis winters?
Rear wheel drive with good tires handles most St. Louis winter days, especially since EVs carry their weight low in the vehicle. eAWD adds a front motor, which helps with traction on icy hills and snowy mornings and adds acceleration. If you live on a steep street or drive early before roads are treated, eAWD is worth the step up. Winter tires help either way.
How much range does a Mach-E lose in cold weather?
All EVs lose some range in cold weather because the battery is less efficient and cabin heating uses energy. How much depends on temperature, speed, and how much you use the heat. Preconditioning the cabin while plugged in at home helps a lot, and so does using the heated seats and steering wheel instead of blasting the cabin heater. We can show you how to set this up in the app.
Can a Mustang Mach-E charge at Tesla Superchargers?
Yes. Ford owners can use many Tesla Supercharger stations with a Ford approved NACS adapter, and the Mach-E can find and pay for compatible stations through Ford's app. That opens up a lot of fast charging stops along I-70, I-55 and I-44. Availability can vary by location, so check the app before a road trip. Ask us which adapter applies to the Mach-E you are buying.
What do I need to charge a Mach-E at home?
Most owners install a Level 2 charger in the garage or driveway, which usually needs a 240 volt circuit put in by a licensed electrician. That lets you start each day with the charge you need. A standard household outlet works as a backup but charges slowly. Ask us about any current Ford home charging offers, and check with your electric utility for rate plans or rebates.
Is there still a federal tax credit on a new Mustang Mach-E?
No. The federal tax credit for new electric vehicle purchases ended on September 30 of last year, so it does not apply to a new Mach-E bought today. Ford and our store may still run their own offers on electric vehicles, and those change month to month. Check our specials, and talk with a tax professional about any state or local incentives that may apply to you.
Which Mach-E trims come with BlueCruise?
BlueCruise is part of Ford's Technology Package, which is standard on GT and Rally and available on Select and Premium. It allows hands free driving on prequalified sections of divided highways while a driver facing camera makes sure you are watching the road. Ford includes a trial period, and after that it runs on a paid plan. It is handy on longer stretches of I-64 or I-55.
How does a Mach-E compare to a gas SUV like the Explorer or Bronco Sport?
The Mach-E trades the fuel pump for home charging, so daily running costs and maintenance needs look different. It is quick, quiet and has no oil changes. An Explorer gives you a third row and easy road trips with no charging stops, while a Bronco Sport is more trail focused. If most of your driving is around the metro and you can charge at home, the Mach-E is worth a serious look.
Is it better to lease or buy a Mustang Mach-E?
Leasing is popular on EVs because it limits your exposure to battery technology changes and resale values, and Ford offers on electric vehicles often favor leases. Buying makes sense if you drive a lot of miles or plan to keep the SUV a long time. We work with Ford Credit and other lenders and will lay out both options with the current offers so you can compare the full cost.
Can I trade in my gas vehicle toward a Mach-E?
Absolutely. Start with our online trade value tool or text us for a quick estimate, then we confirm the number when we see the vehicle in person. Your trade value goes toward the Mach-E purchase or lease. If you still owe on your current vehicle, we handle the payoff with your lender as part of the deal so you do not have to manage it yourself.
Can I order a Mach-E with the exact color and options I want?
Yes. We place custom factory orders, so you can choose trim, battery, drive, color and packages. Timing depends on Ford's production schedule, and we update you as the order moves along. Ordering is useful if you want a specific combination, like an extended range Premium with eAWD in a certain color, that may not be sitting on our lot.
Does Dave Sinclair Ford service electric vehicles like the Mach-E?
Yes. Our service center works on the Mustang Mach-E, including tire rotations, cabin filters, brake checks, software updates and electric vehicle diagnostics. EVs skip oil changes but still need regular inspections. Ford Pickup and Delivery can take your Mach-E to the shop and back, and Mobile Service handles select work at your location. Call service at (314) 350-7143 to schedule.
Do military members and Ford employees get special pricing on a Mach-E?
Eligible buyers can use Ford X Plan or A/Z Plan pricing on a new Mach-E, and we run appreciation programs for military members and first responders. Each has its own requirements, so bring your PIN or documentation and we will verify it. We will also check whether any current Ford electric vehicle offers can be combined with those programs on the Mach-E you choose.
Where can I test drive a Mustang Mach-E in South St. Louis County?
Visit us at 7466 S Lindbergh Blvd, near Sunset Hills and Crestwood. Call sales at (314) 931-4389 or use our contact page to tell us which trim you want to drive, and we will have it charged and ready. A longer test drive helps with an EV, so ask if you want to try it on the highway and get a feel for one pedal driving.
